Dr. Elizabeth Ruiz
Founder, From Expert to Income
Dr. Elizabeth Ruiz is the founder of From Expert to Income, a platform created to help experts (Elizabeth believes we all have a story and knowledge to share) transform their expertise into a book, a message, and paid speaking opportunities.
She is the author of more than 30 books and multiple research papers, and a globally respected facilitator, keynote speaker, and presenter on leadership, communication, and professional presence. With over four decades of experience in professional communication, presentation, and leadership development, Dr. Ruiz understands what it takes to stand out, be taken seriously, and get paid for your knowledge.
Her career began while in school during the late 1970s as a paid runway and print model. After graduating high school, Elizabeth expanded into television appearances on ABC and NBC, and evolved into live speaking, facilitation, and hosting for conferences and professional events, polishing and honing her (verbal and nonverbal) communication skills. Over the years, she built and sold multiple successful businesses, including a full-service personal image development firm where she coached individuals on personal image development, and a conference planning company that worked closely with media, event, and show producers who hire speakers, facilitators, and keynotes globally.
Those behind-the-scenes relationships gave Dr. Ruiz rare insight into what decision-makers actually look for when booking speakers and why many experts are overlooked despite having powerful stories, credentials, and experience.
Today, through From Expert to Income, Dr. Ruiz combines real-world industry knowledge with academic research and proven frameworks to help individuals, authors, coaches, consultants, and professionals package their expertise, write authority-building books, and position themselves for paid speaking engagements.
Her mission is simple: to help experts stop undervaluing their knowledge, show up with confidence and credibility, and turn what they know into meaningful impact and income.
Elizabeth's Story
I didn’t always know I would become an author, speaker, or founder, but I always knew the power of presence.
Long before I ever stood behind a podium or wrote my first book, I learned that how you show up matters. People decide whether to listen, trust, or follow you long before you speak. I learned that lesson early, on stages, in front of cameras, and under bright lights where confidence wasn’t optional, it was required.
I began my professional journey in the late 1970s as a paid model on the runway, in print, conferences, and later expanding into television on ABC and NBC. In the 1980's began competing in the Miss Universe and Miss America Pageants, competing live on nationally televised stages. Those early years taught me discipline, poise, and how to perform under pressure, but they also taught me something deeper: visibility without clarity leads nowhere.
As my career evolved, I transitioned into hosting, speaking, and facilitating conferences and professional events. I went on to build and sell multiple businesses, including a personal image development firm and a conference planning company that worked closely with media producers and event decision-makers, the very people who choose which voices get booked, paid, and amplified.
Behind the scenes, I noticed something that troubled me. So many brilliant professionals, people with powerful stories, lived experience, and deep expertise were being overlooked. Not because they lacked knowledge. Not because they weren’t qualified. But because they didn’t know how to package their expertise, articulate their value, or position themselves as the authority they already were.
I also experienced this firsthand as I stepped more fully into research, writing, and leadership psychology. Becoming the author of more than 30 books and multiple research papers didn’t automatically open doors. Visibility, credibility, and income still required intention, strategy, and clarity.
That realization became the foundation of From Expert to Income.
I created this platform to help experts stop shrinking, stop second-guessing themselves, and stop waiting for permission to be seen. From Expert to Income exists to guide professionals through the process of turning what they know into a book, a message, and paid opportunities, without losing their authenticity or integrity.
Today, as a global facilitator, keynote speaker, and presenter, I share my research and experience on stages around the world. But my greatest fulfillment comes from helping others claim their voice, own their expertise, and step confidently into rooms they once thought were out of reach.
